The full moon cycle and the new moon cycle is a three day cycle. The very first super full moon of the decade arrives and begins to ease into the three day cycle on March 8, 2020 at 1:48pm EST. This full moon is known as the worm moon and is the final full moon of the winter season. The direct alignment arrives on Monday, March 9, at 1:48 pm EST and eases out on Tuesday.
A worm moon is significant. Worms, like mushrooms and fungus, are the de-composers of nature. They literally turn trash into treasure. As this worm moon arrives, with the first super moon of the decade, it is a great indication that the tiniest energy; that is no longer serving you, will rise to the surface. You are ready to let go of the small stuff that is ready to be shifted; so you can turn your trash into treasure. A super moon amplifies the already present support of this powerful full moon. Across the globe, this moon is aligned with many people learning how their own personal body may be out of ease through disEASE. What physical symptoms, in the form of discomfort, are you being shown? Are you tired? Are you achy? Are you coughing? Are you thirsty? Are you having a hard time sleeping? Are you swollen? The list, this time of year, can be lengthy as we tune up to spring and our body does its best to release the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere. Have you ever really learned how maple syrup is made? It depends greatly on the temperature at the end of the winter season. The maple tree begins to wake up and the sap begins to flow. This is the flow of the tree. Our human bodies, in it's own right, is also waking up to get it's juices flowing. This is one reason why many cultures have honored the change of seasons and aligned with ancient ways to help the body flush out or detox out the dead of winter. In France, the ancient grandmothers would make a pot of leek soup and other ingredients that were left on the back burner of the stove for the family to eat and drink of many days in the spring. Below, is a recipe I have enjoyed during spring that is a recipe based from the Ayurveda concept in India. I received this recipe from my homeopathic doctor who leads a spring detox program. It can include the additional support of supplements and body treatments to boost the results; but I have found the incorporation of the food alone to be very helpful in and of itself. From my own personal experience, it is a great tool; yet always seek your own version of medical guidance when trying something new in your diet. When we detox the organ of the liver, it is helpful to follow a menu in multiple of threes. For example, 3 days, 6 days, 9 days. After reading the Liver Detox by Anthony William he has a great section which describes how the frequency of the liver connects to 3, 6, and 9. In India, this practice is done for 21 days! As you embrace this gorgeous super full worm moon, you might consider making this delicious meal to incorporate during the three day cycle!! Kitchari recipe 1 cup organic Basmati rice 2 cups split yellow moong beans ( don't you love that they say moon right in them!!) 7-8 cups of water (boiled in a kettle before adding) 2 TBS sesame oil ( not toasted) or olive oil 3 tsp. mustard seed 2 tsp cumin seed or powder 2 tsp. tumeric powder 2 tsp. coriander powder 2 tsp. fennel powder 1/4 tsp. ginger powder 1 pinch salt 1 pinch hing (optional) Cut veggies into small pieces of 1/4" to 1/2 ". Wash with at least two changes of water. Saute the seeds in the oil until they pop (about 1-2 minutes) then add the other spices, moong beans, and salt. Add the boiling water and heat the mixture on high until it reaches a boil. Lower temp and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add veggies and the rice. Add additional water if needed to cover the content of the pot. Bring back to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes covered. Eat as much as you like, as often as you like . You may drink herbal tea or water as your fluid during the day. This is left on the counter for the day. Not put into refrigeration as based on the India style. You make a fresh pot each morning with the rise of the sun!! Enjoy with your favorite friends and family under the light of the super moon!
